ID control guide

INTRODUCTION

The InDaisy+ functionality requires that the correct ID is set in each InCap (header) and InShelf (shelf strip) that is used in your specific configuration. This is done so each screen knows what portion of your content it is responsible to display (See the Content Creation Guides for details).

REQUIRED HARDWARE

Lenovo InstoreScreen USB to RJ45

Contact your Lenovo InstoreScreen rep.

Standard RJ45 network cable

You probably have one, look before you buy.

1. DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE

Download and unzip the software package into a Temporary Location, the zip file will include CH340 32/64-bit drivers incase Windows does not find them.

2. INSTALL

Your Temporary Location should now have 3 files as shown to the right. Click on the “id_control” file to start installing, follow the instructions provided by the installation program.

3. CONNECT USB to RJ45 adapter

Connect the USB-A connector of the Lenovo Instorescreen specific adapter into an available USB-A port on your Windows PC, connect your network cable with one end to the adapters RJ45 port and the other end to the RJ45 connector of your Smart Retail display.

4. CHECK COM PORT

Run the Windows Device Manager by typing into the search field as shown below.

In the Device Manager application locate the node “Ports (COM & LPT), you should see an entry for “USB-SERIAL CH340 (COMx)” where x is 7 in this example.

If you cannot see the “USB-SERIAL CH340” device then Windows may not have found the driver. Go back to your Temporary Location and install them manually by running either the CH340_64 or CH340-32 depending on your Windows version.

5. START ID CONTROL

Run the ID Control App by typing IDControl into the search field as shown below.

The IDControl App will now come up, select your specific COMx port in the “Com Select” dropdown.

Press the “Open Com” button and the disabled buttons should become enabled.

ARE YOU READY TO SET ID’S?

Before you continue to step 6 below check if everything is prepared!

  1. Your screens should be powered on
  2. Your screens should be daisy chained correctly, check input and output
  3. Video to your daisy chain array must be disconnected, they must be blue
  4. ID Control network cable is connected to the first screen in the daisy chain
  5. Your ID map based on the Content Guide is available

6. SETTING THE SCREEN ID’S

The ID Control App should now be running with all the buttons active and the COMx port should be open.

Press the button “Random creating”, all screens in your daisy chain array should now show unique 4-digit numbers.

Fill in the 4-digit number from a screen in the field right of the “Random setting” button (red arrow), set your ID number in the SET-ID field (green arrow). Press the button “Random setting”, the 4-digit number should be replaced by an OK text on the screen.

Continue the process with all screens in the daisy chain until you are finished. Re-connect the video input to the screens, the OK text should disappear and the screen content should follow you content map.

Last step to make sure all the ID's are stored in the screens memory, select the radio button "Group" under "Mode Select" top left in the ID control software. Then set the second value to the last ID that you have in your daisy chain, press the Power button and all screens should power down. Press Power again and all screens should re-start, the ID's are now saved.

Tip. It is possible to set the ID’s remotely using for example TeamViewer, this is made easier if you set a Personal Password under TeamViewer’s Advanced Options. The video into the daisy chain still needs to be disconnected when setting the ID’s. You will also need a helper on the remote location to read the 4 digits on the screen for you.
